Transmissions:
Intergenerational Repetitions and the Unconscious Foundations of Whiteness

by Danielle Egan

This multi-media project is a conceptual, clinical, and artistic exploration of how the dominant ideology of whiteness is transmitted, in part, in early childhood before language acquisition. The project uses developmental origins of health and disease (DOHD) models, which have highlighted the intersection of the biological, cultural, and the somatic in research on the intergenerational impacts of trauma as a starting point to help reframe traditional models of socialization.

A digital interface will allow individuals the capacity to move between the written work and creative pieces in the project, experiencing a fusion of the discursive, visual, and auditory, which may model how transmission works in the first place.
